Woodwork and trim painting

Doors, skirting, architraves and panelling define the edges of a room. Their preparation deserves a separate specification.

Preparation before the finish

Check existing coatings and the condition of joints before discussing repairs. Preserve moulding profiles and avoid building paint across gaps or moving parts. Historic coatings may need assessment before disturbance.

Choosing the specification

Choose sheen in relation to the surrounding walls and how often the surface is handled. The same colour can look different on timber and plaster. Agree the treatment of hinges, handles, seals and adjacent surfaces.

Define the work in your quotation

The quotation should identify the surfaces, preparation, products, access and exclusions. Share photographs and the property address so that we can discuss the condition and arrange the next step.

  • A schedule of doors and trim
  • Local repairs and joint treatment
  • Hardware protection or removal
  • Finish, colour and drying requirements
