Painters & decorators in South Kensington
A South Kensington decorating scheme needs two views: the room you want to change and the building arrangements that make the work possible.

A documented stucco setting
The adopted Queen’s Gate appraisal describes the listed terrace at nos. 2–54 even Queen’s Gate Terrace, built in 1859–60, with ornate stucco and timber sash windows. It is one documented example of Victorian fabric, not evidence that every South Kensington address has the same construction or listing status.

Assess tall rooms and fine profiles
Include ceiling height and clear photographs of cornices, window reveals and door surrounds in the brief. Identify loose decoration or staining before selecting a finish. If plasterwork needs stabilising or a leak needs repair, establish that separately from painting. Discuss how high surfaces will be reached and how lighting, curtains and retained furnishings will be protected.
A flat needs a shared-access plan
Confirm the entrance, delivery arrangements and route through communal spaces. List building-manager requirements alongside the room schedule. External window faces and front doors should be identified explicitly, so responsibility for permissions and colour selection is clear. Where rooms must stay usable, discuss a sequence that includes drying and access to essential fittings.
Where wallpaper meets paint
Bring together the proposed wallpaper, wall paint and joinery finish before ordering. Discuss the main view into each room and where the wallcovering should begin and end. Chimney breasts, alcoves and fitted furniture can influence the setting-out discussion. Record the exact paper, batch and product specification, with stripping and lining addressed separately in the quotation.
