Painters & decorators in Kensington Court

For a Kensington Court apartment or house, distinguish the surfaces inside your home from the parts of the building managed collectively.

Red brick, mansion flats and mews

The conservation area appraisal describes late nineteenth-century red-brick houses and mansion flats, with stucco and terracotta detailing. It also records surviving multi-storey mews buildings. That variety matters: a façade with painted timber and decorative masonry is not a reason to include the brickwork in a repaint.

Define the apartment boundary

Mark out the entrance door, internal rooms, window faces and any balcony or exterior joinery in the proposed scope. Ask the managing agent which elements are your responsibility and whether a common specification applies. Keep that answer with the quotation. An interior colour should not automatically become the finish for a shared landing or an external window face.

Protect a route through the building

Describe the route from the street to the rooms, including stairs, lift dimensions and restrictions on use. Identify where materials can be carried, stored and mixed. Agree protection along that route as well as inside the apartment. If there is no suitable space for preparing removable cabinet doors, discuss that before selecting a method or programme.

An interior scheme that reads as a whole

Take samples into the hall and adjoining rooms, not just the brightest reception space. Review wall colour beside existing doors, flooring and fitted furniture. State whether ceilings, cornices, cupboard interiors and radiators are included. For a mews enquiry, add photographs of the entrance and stair so that turning space and furniture movement can be considered.
