Wallpaper hanging

Wallcoverings need a sound background and a considered setting-out plan, especially around period corners, alcoves and chimney breasts.

Preparation before the finish

Check the wall condition, existing lining and any staining before measuring. Discuss whether old paper needs removing and whether lining or further repairs should be included. Pattern repeats and the position of the first drop affect the quantity required.

Choosing the specification

Confirm the exact paper, batch and hanging instructions before ordering. Consider seams in relation to the main view into the room. Delicate papers and hand-finished wallcoverings need their own assessment; suitability is agreed before a quotation is finalised.

Define the work in your quotation

The quotation should identify the surfaces, preparation, products, access and exclusions. Share photographs and the property address so that we can discuss the condition and arrange the next step.

  • Paper type, pattern and batch
  • Removal and lining requirements
  • Measured quantities and allowance for pattern matching
  • Treatment at sockets, doors and corners
